“In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.” John 1:4

We can have Christmas lights and presents all year long if we focus on the true meaning of Christmas… here is what I mean:
“The light of all mankind.” This phrase reminds me of the scene from “Deck the Halls” where you can see their Christmas lights from outer space. What if our light was shining so bright that it was undeniable to everyone we encountered?
The verse right after this one says “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” This light doesn’t have an off switch. This light starts as an ember and grows into a roaring fire that is seen by many and keeps others warm. The same light that glowed in Jesus can glow in you… that is POWERFUL!
Have you ever encountered someone whose light was undeniable? Seen from space? Kept you warm at a dark time in your life? That is the love of Jesus. It is bright, encouraging, inspiring, warm, seen and known undeniably. How beautiful is that?
Jesus came to earth to offer humankind the hope and light of his eternal life. It can’t be purchased, only received as a gift. A GIFT! Personally, I love giving gifts, but when was the last time I thought to offer someone the chance to know the gift that Jesus gave to all of us, his life, his spirit, and the chance to have eternal life with him and his father.
That is the gift we can focus on giving ALL YEAR LONG! Light and presents 365 days a year, what good news!
